The American Advertising Awards, home of the ADDY® Award, is one of the industry's largest creative competitions, attracting nearly 35,000 professional and student entries each year through competitions offered through local AAF clubs. The mission of the American Advertising Awards is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in advertising.

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local Ad Club phase is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie to win ADDY Awards - recognition as the very best in their markets. At the second tier, local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards. Entry in your local Ad Club competition is the first step toward winning a national ADDY.

Please visit the "Eligibility Requirements" section below to review the submissions criteria and identify what you need to submit your nomination and entry

How to Enter

  1. Review your creative work completed between January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018 and select what you feel are your very best projects. Make sure you have two copies of each item you submit.
  2. Collect the names and titles of all those involved in the creative you select (designers, project managers, writers, etc.). Then collect the digital and tangible assets of your projects (*.pdfs, *.jpg, *.png, *.mov or *.mp4, etc.)
  3. Visit 4AAF.com and click your location on the AAF Fourth District affiliate map
  4. When your competition page opens, register as an entrant (Professional or Student) or log in if you entered previously
  5. Select the entry division and use the simple drop-down menus to enter your information
  6. Submit digital and physical entries in the manner each category requires
  7. Print the manifest listing all of your entries and payment options
  8. Bring your physical entries (and payment if paying by check) to the designated local drop-off site on the deadline day.
    • Regular Entry: Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm at CoLab @ the Pod (124 Marriott Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32301). This is the only deadline for student entries
    • Late Entry: Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm at the CoLab @ the Pod (124 Marriott Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32301). Please note that we're only accepting physical entries on January 16 for those who pay the late entry fees. For those who are paying the normal entry fee, they must submit their physical entry on January 9. There is no late entry for student entries
    • If your submission is completely digital, such as a website or video, you do not need to submit a physical copy as long as you upload your assets to the online entry portal and pay online
    • No entries will be accepted after 5:00pm on Wednesday, January 16. If you need to make arrangements to drop off your packets at an earlier date please email addys@aaftallahassee.com
  9. Get your tickets to the 2018 - 2019 American Advertising Awards on Saturday, February 16, 2019 online

Please make sure your membership is up-to-date. If you click member pricing, and your membership is not up to date, AAF Tallahassee will bill you for membership dues, and your membership dues must be paid by January 16, 2018 for your entries to qualify. Eligibility Requirements

All work entered must have first appeared between January 1 and December 31, 2018.

With the exceptions of Public Service, Advertising Industry Self-Promotion, and student entries, the work must have been the result of paid creative services in the normal course of business.

The entry content must be “New” creative. For example, the same headline from a previous year with different body copy does not qualify.

Entries may be entered into just one ADDY competition and must be submitted to the competition in the CBSA, DMA, or MSA (as defined by Arbitron or Nielsen) nearest geographically to where the work was created. The entry map will indicate your competition. However - entries can be submitted to multiple categories within the same ADDY competition. 

New Local Award-Specific Requirements

The 2018 - 2019 AAF Tallahassee Board of Directors is excited to announce the launch of new local-specific awards that celebrates and honors professionals and agencies in Tallahassee.

Due to AAF system limitations there isn't a perfect way to submit information for these awards. For the sections of the awards process that are not applicable to these categories, please include N/A throughout. Here are the qualifications for the local-specific awards.

AdPro of the Year

  • Nominees must demonstrate a consistent, strategic degree of original thinking in their field
  • Nominees must excel in advertising or advertising-related services and continue to set a high standard for advertising professionals
  • Nominees must have contributed to AAF Tallahassee must have occurred between January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018
  • Must be an AAF Tallahassee member to nominate
  • Must be a AAF Tallahassee member to receive this award
  • Must submit 2-3 creative examples completed between January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018 that they’ve been part of
  • Must submit a headshot with the nomination
  • Please visit us online to submit a nomination by Wednesday, January 9 at 5:00pm. We’ll open up the voting to all AAF Tallahassee members from Monday, January 14 to Friday, January 25

In-House Team of the Year

  • Must upload a 2-3 page written summary of qualifications 
  • Must submit 2-3 creative examples completed between January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018
  • Must be an AAF Tallahassee member to submit an entry

Agency of the Year

  • Small Agency of the Year (1-4 full-time employees)
  • Midsize Agency of the Year (5-15 full-time employees)
  • Large Agency of the Year (15+ full-time employees)
  • Must upload a 2-3 page written summary of qualifications 
  • Must submit 2-3 creative examples completed between January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018
  • Must be an AAF Tallahassee member to submit an entry
  • From the winners of In-House Team of the Year, Small Agency of the Year, Midsize Agency of the Year and Large Agency of the Year - we'll award the Agency of the Year

Entry Submission

Digital Entries (electronic media and online entries): Only require uploading through the entry portal.

Online/Interactive Advertising: For Websites and all Online/Interactive entries, submit the URL addresses. URLs must not require any username or password for access.

Print/Physical Entries: All entries in non-digital mediums require the submission of physical examples of the work. All entries become the property of AAF Tallahassee, District, or the AAF and will not be returned. Important Notice: The large entry card and bag used in previous years is no longer required. 

  • We recommend 10" X 12" transparent plastic booklet envelopes found in most office supply stores and catalogs. Clasp envelopes may also be used
  • If a transparent plastic envelope is used, insert two copies of the entry form inside the envelope behind the physical entry. The entry (creative work) should be facing or readable from one side and the entry form facing or readable from the other. Remove the entry numbers from the bottom of the form and firmly affix one to the BACK of every piece in the entry
  • If a clasp envelope is used, spray-mount the entry form and attach to the front of the envelope and insert a second copy of the entry form inside with the entry. Remove the entry numbers from the bottom of the form and firmly affix one to the BACK of every piece in the entry
  • Three-dimension (3D) items should be placed inside an envelope or box with an entry form attached to the outside. The entry number label should be securely attached to the bottom of the entry
  • Campaign entries are handled in the same manner as 3D entries, placing the campaign inside an appropriately sized package. Affix the entry number to every piece in the entry (use the removable entry number tabs from bottom of the printable entry form). Indicate on each label “1 of 2” or “2 of 2,” etc
  • Integrated campaign (multiple mediums) entries may be accompanied by a written or digital (video) summary not to exceed 250 words (written) or 3 minutes (digital). Digital summaries must be submitted by uploading the video file during the online entry process

Invoice / Manifest Form

After filling out the entry forms, you will be required to sign an Invoice/Manifest Form listing all of your entries. This form states that by signing below you:

  1. Verify that the information is accurate
  2. Acknowledge that proper rights were obtained for use of any elements of the entry that were not original
  3. Agree to submit documentation deemed necessary for review
  4. Release the entry for Internet, broadcast, and/or print (allow reuse of material)
  5. Verify that the entry was created within the local CBSA, DMA, or MSA (as defined by Arbitron or Nielsen) of the competition
