Judging for the American Advertising Awards will be conducted online.
In some categories, entrants are allowed and/or required to upload additional digital examples of an entry. This is intended to provide more appropriate content for the judges.
Please carefully follow all online submission guidelines provided within the entry system, to ensure that your work is properly represented during all three tiers of the American Advertising Awards competition.

This is critical information you need to know regarding how to enter as well as definition of categories. These guides should be printed out, read and used as a guide in preparing your entries. Please note there have been changes to the Rules and Categories for 2022 - 2023. AAF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS LOCAL JUDGING WILL BE ONLINE ONLY
NO PHYSICAL ENTRIES WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE LOCAL SOUTHERN ILLINOIS COMPETITION.
FAQ's
ALL entries MUST be uploaded into the software regardless of category and will be judged from the Judging Portal of the site. No physical work samples will be accepted for the local SOUTHERN ILLINOIS competition. The maximum file size is 1gb. For best viewing of PDFs, upload a reduced size PDF. **Local Gold Winners - If your entry has a physical piece, we may ask to have you send it to forward onto districts. The decision has not been made as to how districts will handle physical entries.
Uploads will also be used in the winners site and award shows on the local, district and national levels. IF YOU FAIL TO UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR ENTRY OR CREDITS, YOUR ENTRY WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM BOOK OR SHOW. You will not have the opportunity to upload after your entries have been submitted.
Upload media files for video, audio and still images. We support a wide range of popular media file formats. Examples include .JPG, .PDF, .3GP, AAC, .WAV, .MP3, AVI, FLV, MP4 and MPEG-2. Quicktime files ending in .mov are also generally accepted, however, .mov files using proprietary codecs such as Apple Pro-Res, RED, ARRI or Avid will not be transcoded andtherefore are not accepted. Maximum file size is 1gb.
Website Entry - All entries in the American Advertising Awards are required to upload a file (or files) to complete their submission. In the case of interactive entries submitted with a URL, it is acceptable and recommended to capture a screenshot of the website home page and upload it as a PDF. This file will be used by the judges (as reference only) to ensure that they are judging the correct site. All judging will be conducted using the online interactive content itself.
Credits: Remember that credits are not just for the local use, but for district and national as well. All credits must be included at the time of your entry submission. Please proof carefully and use proper punctuation. YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADD OR MAKE CHANGES TO CREDITS AFTER YOUR ENTRIES HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED.
